Comprehensive Evaluations
KSL provides in-depth evaluations to accurately assess your child's speech, language, and overall communication skills. The evaluations are the first step in building a clear picture of how your child communicates across settings —and in helping their speech therapist to understand the support that will help them thrive.
Each evaluation is designed to identify your child's communication strengths and areas of need, using a combination of parent input, observation, and direct interaction with your child. We will take the time to listen to your concerns, observe how your child engages, and gather detailed information to guide the creation of therapy goals that are meaningful and relevant.
It is not enough to "wait and see". Get started & schedule an evaluation today.
Speech & Language Therapy
Speech and language therapy should be built around your child — not the other way around.
After the initial evaluation, a therapy plan is developed based on evaluation results and with input from parents/caregivers. Each child's therapy plan is individualized in order to support your child’s unique communication profile and developmental needs.
As therapy begins, the therapist prioritizes building familiarity and trust with each child. Your child’s interests, personality, and natural communication style are intentionally woven into each session to encourage engagement and connection. This could mean incorporating their favorite topics, preferred activities, or simply following their lead when appropriate.
Therapy sessions are structured but flexible, allowing space for creativity, comfort, and meaningful interaction. This approach not only helps target communication goals more effectively, but it ensures your child feels seen, supported, and safe throughout the process. By nurturing confidence and self-expression, therapy also supports your child's growing independence as a communicator, both in daily life and across social, academic, and home environments.
Speech therapy plans should be as unique as your kid.
Key Speech and Language is committed to collaborating with families in order to develop the best plan for each individual child.
Together, we can help your child develop functional communication skills in a way that is best for their own learning style.

Articulation and Phonology
Difficulties with pronunciation of sounds in words can be frustrating for a child that just wants to be understood. Ms. Kee has helped many children overcome these challenges through articulation (how sounds are produced) and phonological (how sounds function within a language) therapy strategies.
Expressive Language
Children with expressive language impairments struggle with generating and using language to express themselves- their needs, desires, and ideas. Therapy at KSL helps children build vocabulary, improve word order and sentence structure, boost grammar skills, and enhance their ability to convey thoughts and ideas effectively.
Receptive Language
Some children experience difficulty with comprehension of language. This can include, but is not limited to, challenges with remembering spoken directions, understanding vocabulary words, or reading comprehension. KSL will provide the right tools to help improve your child's understanding of language, which will bolster communication skills across all environments.
Pragmatic (Social) Language
Pragmatic language refers to how language is used socially. Many children, including those with different levels of
🌶️neurospice🌶️, have trouble understanding verbal or non-verbal social cues, sarcasm, or using language appropriately in different settings. Ms. Kee has the ability to adjust treatment strategies based on your child's needs- which can vary day to day or even moment to moment. KSL will help your child build these social communication skills, which will help to foster positive relationships and interactions in their lives.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
For children with severe speech or language impairments, AAC, such as icons, core picture boards, and high-tech speech-generating devices can open the door to your child finally being able to express themselves functionally and successfully. KSL will work with you and your child to find the best AAC system that meets their needs, and guide them in using and mastering the system so they can finally express their thoughts and ideas.
Pre-Literacy and Phonemic Awareness
Early reading skills are critical for long-term academic success. KSL provides therapy that focuses on pre-literacy skills, such as letter recognition, letter-sound associations, and phonemic awareness (understanding sounds in words), which are important tools for successful reading and writing.
Let's read fun and educational books!
Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS)
CAS is a motor speech disorder that affects a child’s ability to plan and coordinate the movements of their mouth, teeth, and tongue that are necessary for producing speech. Ms. Kee has the knowledge and experience to offer specialized therapy necessary for children with CAS, to improve their speech motor skills and overall communication.
Cognitive Communication
Cognitive communication refers to the ability to organize thoughts, maintain focus and attention, and use memory in everyday speaking and listening. Therapy at KSL provides children with the tools to develop these brain skills, which are crucial for both academic success and social interactions.
Fluency Disorders
If your child is struggling with stuttering or cluttering, it is understandable how deeply it can impact their confidence and their ability to express themselves. KSL offers therapy not only to help improve their fluency, but to help your child find their voice. This approach is uniquely tailored to meet your child’s personal needs, with the goal of promoting smoother, more confident communication—so they can speak freely and feel proud of every word they say.
